On February
01, 2024, via Zoom, the CAWTAR and the International Planned Parenthood
Federation - Arab World Region held a coordination meeting on the theme
"International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation".
The meeting
was attended by participants representing family planning associations, media,
civil society organizations and experts from 08 countries: Indonesia,
Somaliland, Yemen, Iraq, Mauritania, Egypt, Tunisia and Sudan.
The
participants learned about the most important outcomes of the joint program
between CAWTAR and IPPF-Arab World Region, and confirmed their involvement in
the efforts of the two organizations to promote the elimination of female
genital mutilation (FGM). The meeting aimed to strengthen the involvement of
all parties participating in the meeting in the campaign to mark the
"International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation",
which falls on February 06 every year.
