On 17 June 2025, Nairobi hosted a regional conference organized by UNICEF with the African Council of Religious Leaders. Religious and community leaders from Eastern and Southern Africa committed to ending FGM and child marriage.
The event highlighted the crucial role of men and boys, especially religious leaders, in shifting social norms and adopting protective alternatives. The final declaration emphasized engaging young men as active participants in building strong community alliances.
