The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) – Arab World Regional Office will soon hold the International Workshop on “Science and Religion: A Multidisciplinary Dialogue to Combat Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)” in the Egyptian capital, Cairo,on 28–29 October 2025.
The workshop aims to foster dialogue among religious leaders of different faiths and IPPF member associations, in order to separate this harmful practice from religious requirements and encourage its cessation. It also seeks to share experiences and acknowledge the leading role of religious leaders in protecting the physical and mental health of women and girls.
Religious leaders, civil society activists and partners from multiple countries in the Arab world, Africa, and Asia will participate to strengthen regional and international efforts to eliminate this harmful practice.
