Description
Dr. Hisham Abu Zeid, Deputy
Governor of Luxor, inaugurated the training camp for the “Innovative
Social Entrepreneurship Incubator Program to End Female Genital Mutilation”,
in partnership with the National Council for Women and the UNFPA, as part of
national efforts to combat FGM and empower women.
The training runs from
October 16 to 23, 2025, following the success of the first phase in November
2023, which included 28 participants and 20 selected projects that received seed
funding. In this second phase, five projects will be chosen to receive seed
funding to implement innovative business models while integrating FGM awareness
activities.
The program provides
training on social entrepreneurship, feasibility studies, business planning,
marketing, finance, and includes specialized sessions on FGM from medical,
legal, and media perspectives. The Deputy Governor emphasized the importance of
engaging all community members, including men, to support initiatives, activate
civil society, and ensure sustainable local development while protecting girls’
rights.
