Description
From 5 to 9 December 2025, the 2nd Regional Training of Trainers on Advocating for the Engagement of Men and Boys in Efforts to End Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) was held in Tunisia as part of the activities of the Media Training Academy of CAWTAR, under the partnership program with the International Planned Parenthood Federation – Arab world Regional Office.
The training brought together civil society representatives from Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, Somaliland, Mauritania and Sudan, who benefited from a five-day intensive program designed to enhance their capacity to design and implement effective advocacy initiatives that engage men and boys as allies in combating this harmful practice.
The training addressed practical approaches for changing societal discourse, understanding male roles in reinforcing or challenging social norms related to FGM, as well as developing training skills, facilitating safe community dialogues, and crafting culturally sensitive communication, messaging strategies and policy oriented papers.
The training aims to empower civil society staff to transfer the knowledge and skills gained to their communities, thereby expanding the reach of their impact and promoting sustainable social change based on community partnership and the protection of girls’ and women’s rights.
